CHEPSTOW RACECOURSE
The View Restaurant – Chepstow Racecourse
The View Restaurant at Chepstow Racecourse provides an excellent space to enjoy a day at the races. The restaurant itself is modern in design, with a large number of screens positioned around the room allowing every table to enjoy the action unfolding from the comfort of their seats.
Whilst there were plenty of tables on the day, it maintained a warm and lively atmosphere, enhanced further by live music on entrance — adding a sense of excitement and occasion to the day. The staff were friendly and hard-working, with the Guinness coming at a consistent pace despite the busyness of the fixture.
Our package on the day cost £130pp and consisted of your own private table for the day, racecard and a superb four-course meal including starters, mains, desserts and a cheeseboard. The full menu was as follows:

Welsh Cheeseboard – With chutney, grapes, celery, fruit and nuts, featuring:
Cenarth Brie, Snowdonia Green Thunder, Snowdonia Black Bomber, and Trefaldwyn Bleu
For starters, we opted for the Homemade Ham Hock Terrine and the Twice-Baked Goats’ Cheese Soufflé — both beautifully presented and packed with flavour. The terrine in particular stood out, rich and meaty with fresh, crisp accompaniments that balanced it perfectly.
Our main courses consisted of the Braised Feather Blade of Beef and the Duo of Chicken. Both were aesthetically impressive dishes, served piping hot and full of quality ingredients. The beef was tender and full of depth, with the onions really bringing out the richness and flavour of the beef. Furthermore, the chicken was moist and cooked perfectly offering a wonderful combination of texture and flavour alongside some exceptional vegetables and potatoes.
For dessert, we chose the Vanilla Crème Brûlée and Dark Chocolate Tart, both of which rounded off the meal beautifully — rich, creamy, and expertly executed. We finished with the Welsh Cheeseboard, a superb selection featuring Cenarth Brie, Snowdonia Green Thunder, Snowdonia Black Bomber, and Trefaldwyn Bleu — all of which showcased some of Wales’ finest produce.
Guinness in the restaurant was priced at £7.90, at the higher end of our market. It was served cold and creamy in a standard glass (not a Guinness-branded one, unfortunately), but still a quality pour that paired nicely with the four-course meal.
The View Restaurant truly lives up to its name — those lucky enough to have a window table are treated to a tremendous view of the racecourse, positioned perfectly in front of the winning post with the parade ring visible alongside. It’s an excellent setting to enjoy the best of the racing atmosphere while dining in comfort especially if the Welsh weather decides to turn.
