PANORAMIC RESTAURANT - DEAUVILLE
Hospitality at Deauville – La Toque Panoramic Restaurant
Arriving at La Toque Panoramic Restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table by the excellent waiting staff. With proper white tablecloths, linen napkins and attentive service, the setting immediately had that classic French fine-dining feel. Best of all, the table is yours for the entire day, meaning you can dip down to the parade ring or trackside at any time and return to your reserved spot without a worry.
The restaurant itself is perched high above the racecourse, offering a truly superb view across the track. Double terraces stretch out from either side — one giving a bird’s-eye view of the parade ring and track, the other overlooking the winners’ enclosure and track. Both provided unique and unobstructed perspectives to enjoy the racing in the glorious French sunshine.
La Toque serves a full à la carte menu, not a set course, so you can order exactly what you’d like. We opted for the tenderloin heart with French fries, rocket and chimichurri sauce, alongside the Norman farm poultry roasted in Vallée d’Auge style and served with fresh fries and a mixed salad. As you’d expect from French cooking, both dishes were of excellent quality — high flavour, beautifully presented, and perfectly complemented by unlimited warm bread rolls and proper French butter.
Between courses, the racing action was always within reach. Early races were watched from the comfort of our table, with big screens inside the restaurant also showing action from other French meetings and even German flat racing. Later, we stepped out onto the terrace to catch one of the all-weather races, looking down on the parade ring from above before heading trackside for the feature Prix Morny.
The build-up to this Group 1 sprint was electric — international contenders from the UK, Ireland and US adding to the sense of occasion. From the parade ring, we watched top jockeys including Ryan Moore, William Buick, David Egan and Clifford Lee get legged up, before following the horses out to the track. We joined the grandstand crowd for a brilliant view of the race itself, which ended in a memorable victory for Clifford Lee, landing his first Group 1 success for Karl Burke. Celebrations spilled back into the winners’ enclosure before we returned upstairs to our table.
Desserts were a highlight — the Bourbon vanilla & pecan millefeuille and the all-chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream both stood out, paired perfectly with ice-cold Heinekens served in proper glassware.
Another real feature of La Toque is the PMU service — the French equivalent of on-course bookmakers. Staff came directly to our table to take bets throughout the day, or for those who prefer the traditional setup, a PMU stand was located in the corner of the restaurant.
With faultless service, great food, flowing drinks and uninterrupted views of the racing from every angle, La Toque provided the perfect base for Prix Morny day. Whether enjoying the relaxed atmosphere over lunch, stepping onto the terrace to soak in the sunshine, or heading down into the thick of the action before returning to your reserved table, it struck the ideal balance between fine dining and race-day buzz.
For anyone looking to combine first-class hospitality with an unforgettable view of Deauville’s racing, La Toque Panoramic Restaurant is an experience not to be missed.
